This award is given to a person who has made outstanding scientific contributions to the field of immunology, mentored many young immunologists, and supported the NVVI.

The laureate should have demonstrated excellence in the following areas:

• Outstanding scientific contributions to the field of immunology
• Mentoring of young immunologists
• Support of the NVVI
