Welcome to the website of the Dutch Society for Immunology (N.V.V.I.)

The Dutch Society for Immunology (NVVI) actively promotes and supports:

Excellence in immunological research, immunodiagnostic procedures and clinical immunological practice in the Netherlands. High quality of analyses of immunological parameters used in health care (for diagnostic purposes)
The societal position of the professional immunologist in all disciplines.

To achieve this, the NVVI organizes scientific meetings, maintains international contacts and has established a number of committees that regulate scientific, laboratory and clinical standards in immunology. The NVVI strives to provide input to national and international policies with the objective to strengthen the future of immunology in all disciplines.

Description: Eliisa Kekäläinen's research group at Translational Immunology Research Program (University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland) is looking for post-doctoral researchers or PhD candidates to a new European Research Council - funded project called ProtecTHY.

If you are interested in the human thymus, thymic involution, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, please do not hesitate to apply! We offer an exciting opportunity to develop your career in a young and ambitious team using cutting-edge multi-omics methods with human tissue samples. We will for example set up and use the IBEX tissue-imaging method to visualize the thymic microanatomy in detail. We also work closely with virologists, so the project is very much interdisciplinary. Both wetlab and drylab oriented people are welcome to apply. Lifetime Contribution to Autoimmunity Award 2024

"Lifetime Contribution to Autoimmunity Award 2024" to Prof. Jan Willem Cohen Tervaert, MD PhD. This Award is presented every two years at the international Autoimmunity Congress as a recognition to individuals who have contributed in a significant way to the field of autoimmunology. This is the first time this prestigious prize is awarded to a Dutch scientist.

New type of grant: LSBR Early Career Grants 2024

The Landsteiner Foundation for Blood Transfusion Research (LSBR) supports fundamental research, including clinical and experimental investigations in the field of blood, blood derivatives, and blood (related) diseases, provided that these topics are related to transfusion or blood cell transplantation. This scope spans a wide range of subjects in the field of haematology, including haematopoiesis, haemostasis, immunotherapy, transfusion medicine, and other issues relevant to the field.

- The LSBR Early Career Grant is intended to offer young researchers the possibility to 
pursue a scientific career in their first or second postdoc period.

- This new grant category is specifically intended for talented investigators that have completed their PhD studies at a Dutch research institute. PhD students with an MD are also invited. Applications need to submitted by the young investigators (not their supervisors).

- Deadline for proposals August 1, 2024, Decisions on granting October 14, 2024

- October 14 is also the date we celebrate our 25-year anniversary. We invite you to join us by signing in on the website.
